Brazil blanks Spain to win Confederations Cup

Brazil striker Fred scored the fastest goal in Confederations Cup finals history as the hosts trounced Spain 3 0 Sunday.

Fred scored after a cross in the second minute despite the fact that he was lying on the ground. Neymar added a goal just before halftime and Fred added another tally two minutes into the second half.

Spain's Sergio Ramos missed a penalty shot in the 53rd minute. The loss ended Spain's 29 match unbeaten streak.

Brazil's victory at Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro gave the hosts momentum heading into the 2014 World Cup also in Brazil.

In the third place match Italy beat Uruguay 3 2 in a shootout after the match ended in a 2 2 draw.
