You can't always be eating turkey. Or watching college football or basketball or the NFL.
For those other times when you're looking for distractions Thanksgiving Day and Thanksgiving Day Plus One (a.k.a. Black Friday) TV is more than ready to fill your plate with its version of comfort food the TV marathon.
Here's a roundup of some of the TV marathons airing Thursday and Friday oddly enough some of which actually include Thanksgiving related programs.
Comedy seriesDennis the Menace If you can never get enough of the comics' (and 1950s TV's) favorite troublemaker Antenna TV airing in Milwaukee on Channel 6.2 and Channel 986 on Time Warner Cable has a 27 hour Dennis marathon that actually starts at 11 p.m. Wednesday running into the wee hours of Friday with 54 consecutive episodes. Mr. Wilson better watch his back.
Adventure Time The animated series about a hero wannabe his skeptical dog a princess and friendship gets the marathon treatment with 10 straight episodes starting at 8 a.m. Thursday on Cartoon Network.
Friends TBS airs a 14 episode marathon including all 10 of the long running sitcom's Thanksgiving shows including the one co starring Brad Pitt starting at 9 a.m. Thursday.
Modern Family USA Network serves up 14 hours (that's 28 episodes) of the Emmy winning sitcom starting at 9 a.m.
Seinfeld It's never too early to start thinking about Festivus you know the holiday for the rest of us invented for Jerry Seinfeld's sitcom universe. And the series' episode that introduced the holiday airs at the end (6 30 p.m.) of a six episode string starting at 4 p.m. Thursday on TBS.
How I Met Your Mother The sitcom had one of TV's best Thanksgiving episodes with Thanksgiving themed Slapsgiving which is included in a showing of seven of the series' slap bet themed episodes starting at 7 p.m. Friday. on WGN America.
DramasBlue Bloods WGN America airs seven straight episodes of the police drama starting with a Thanksgiving themed show at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Helix Syfy's scientists save the world from a killer virus drama which returns with new episodes in January gets a 13 episode refresher starting at 5 a.m. Friday.
Reality fareAmerica's Funniest Home Videos There's nothing like watching YouTube before it grew up and WGN America has six hours of Tom Bergeron hosted clip shows to prove it starting at 6 p.m. Thursday.
MoviesA kung fu feast El Rey carried by Time Warner Cable (Channel 841) and DirecTV (Channel 341) has a 48 hour marathon of kung fu movies starting with Challenge of the Masters at 5 a.m. Thursday with such classics as Bruce Lee's Enter the Dragon (9 12 a.m. Thursday) and Mad Monkey Kung Fu (9 30 a.m. and 7 30 p.m. Friday) in the mix.
Final frontiers A (mostly) space focused movie marathon fills Syfy's schedule for most of Thanksgiving Day starting off with Stanley Kubrick's 2001 A Space Odyssey at 8 30 a.m.
Jurassic reruns AMC is running the first three Jurassic Park movies in order No. 4 Jurassic World comes out next summer starring Chris Pratt check out the new trailer on YouTube starting at 9 a.m. Thursday repeating the trio at 5 p.m.
Hitchcock fest Turner Classic Movies dishes out a diverse menu of Alfred Hitchcock favorites with seven movies starting at 4 30 a.m. Friday with 1938's The Lady Vanishes.
