Last week UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey remarked that UFC fighters should always get paid more than UFC Octagon girls. Those weren't her first public comments on the ring card technicians and they rubbed one of them Arianny Celeste the wrong way.
There's definitely a lot more in what the fighters do than what Octagon girls do Rousey said. So I think that's one thing that's unfair.
Celeste replied and said that Rousey's comments amounted to bullying. After an open workout Wednesday in Torrance California to promote her UFC 184 main event against Cat Zingano Rousey fielded questions from reporters including ones on Celeste's comments.
Cutting weight and with a big fight on the horizon Rousey was in no mood to back off of her own earlier statements.
What did I say that was a bully she said. That the fighters should get paid more than the ring girls How does that make me a bully That makes me expletive right. I'm sorry but she wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for the fighters. She wouldn't. You think her walking in circles around the two guys or two girls out there fighting for their lives is worth more Think she works harder than they do
The Rowdy one went on offering what she called a free public relations lesson for Celeste.
You know what would have been the best thing for her to say Rousey said before continuing and mocking the model's voice. 'Oh my God you know these fighters work so hard and I wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for them. I just admire them so much. And yeah I definitely think that they should get paid more than anybody in the arena tonight.' There ya go. That's a PR lesson for her.
