The Chicago Blackhawks are set to celebrate their third Stanley Cup in the last six seasons with a parade through the streets of Chicago on Thursday which will begin at 10 a.m. local time and end at Soldier Field.
The parade route will start at Monroe and Jefferson Streets and proceed east until Michigan Avenue before reaching the home of the Chicago Bears at about 11 a.m. CT. Free tickets to the celebration are available online although there will be a charge for parking at the lots at Soldier Field.
A full map of the parade was provided by ABC 7 in Chicago
Due to road closures and increased traffic from the motorcade the office of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is encouraging parade goers to use public transportation as much as possible. Emanuel released a statement on Tuesday regarding the parade and the Stanley Cup victory of the Blackhawks.
The City of Chicago is so proud of the Blackhawks which is why we are going to throw them a celebration that only Chicago can throw a celebration worthy of a hockey dynasty Mayor Emanuel said in the statement.
Television coverage of the event will be provided by WGN beginning at 9 a.m. CT and running through the entire event ending at 1 p.m.
The Blackhawks defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games to secure the franchise's sixth Stanley Cup. After nearly 50 years without a championship the Blackhawks won in 2010 and 2013 before making it three wins in the last six years with another win in 2015.
