Ken Shamrock People who know me theyd bet their house on this fight

ST. LOUIS For Ken Shamrock it s easy now to pinpoint where he went wrong in the final years of his career before he retired.

Shamrock who returns to the cage Friday at Bellator 138 for the first time since 2010 said he was squeezing blood from a stone when he continued to fight through the regional circuit in the late 2000s in hopes of reviving his career.

The thing I didn t realize is the more I tried to fight the more I tried to get through it the worse I was getting he said. I didn t know that.

Bellator 138 takes place at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. The main card airs live on Spike TV following prelims on MMAjunkie.

Now at 51 Shamrock (28 15 2 MMA 0 0 BMMA) said the tools he s cultivated over more than two decades in the MMA business are working together more than ever. Still he is a 2 1 underdog to beat Kevin Kimbo Slice Ferguson (4 2 MMA 0 0 BMMA) who at 41 also returns for the first time in five years.

A lot of people are counting me out Shamrock said. At least the oddsmakers are. People that know me they d bet their house on this fight. But it is what is. I understand I know where I m at because my last couple of fights haven t been that great. I ve been out of it for six years. You add all those things together it s impossible for me to win this fight. I understand that.

Boy I ll tell you what it s going to be nice Friday night when I get to show the world that when you set your mind to something and you can have faith you can achieve anything you want to just as long as you re willing to pay the cost.

Check out the above video to hear Shamrock talk about the past few years of his life his resurgence and what he thinks will happen Friday against Slice.
