The Mexico manager Miguel Herrera accused the Bayern Munich forward of cheating to win the penalty that knocked his side out and demanded that the Portuguese referee Pedro Proenca be sent home from the tournament.

Speaking to Dutch television Robben said The one at the end was a clear penalty but I have to admit there was an incident in the first half where I did dive. I must apologise. I should not be doing that.

The players showed they have the belief to fight through to the end he said. Let me tell you that the Dutch media thought we would never survive the first round and so how we are suddenly favourites to qualify for the semis is something I have difficulty imagining. But with the team spirit that brought us this victory I think we will be very difficult to beat.

The Milwaukee Bucks have fired coach Larry Drew after agreeing to send two second round draft picks to the Brooklyn Nets to secure the coaching rights to Jason Kidd sources told ESPN.com on Monday.

Brooklyn will receive draft picks in 2015 and 2019 from Milwaukee. The Bucks had been offering one second round pick but the Nets wanted a 2015 first round pick in exchange a negotiating chip the Bucks dismissed.

Kidd Switch A Rare One

Jason Kidd is just the fourth NBA head coach to switch teams immediately following his rookie season and the first since Stan Albeck and Jack McKinney did so following the 1979 80 season.

A source told ESPN.com's Andy Katz that the Bucks have talked to Kidd only about being the coach not any kind of administrative position running basketball operations. The source said the negotiation was supposed to be between the owners not involving any basketball personnel before the New York Post leaked the story. But the source said the negotiations are now being handled by Bucks general manager John Hammond and Nets GM Billy King.

The source told ESPN.com that the jobs of Hammond and high ranking Bucks officials David Morway and Dave Babcock are not in jeopardy.

A league source told ESPNNewYork.com that Lionel Hollins has already emerged as a very serious candidate to become head coach of the Nets if Kidd goes to Milwaukee.

In a lot of ways he makes the most sense a league source said of Hollins. He represents stability and stability is very important right now. He rules with an iron fist and gets a lot out of his players so he'd be very high on the list right now and likely the leader.

Ettore Messina former coach of CSKA Moscow also is a leading contender for the Nets' opening a source told ESPN.com.

Sources said Bucks co owners Wes Edens and Marc Lasry met with Kidd on Friday in New York City after asking for and receiving permission to talk to Kidd a few days before Thursday's NBA draft.

Lasry had a previous relationship with Kidd but Edens did not. The source said Kidd told the owners that he would like to have the job. He was intrigued by the challenge of coaching a young rebuilding team that just added the No. 2 pick in the draft in Duke's Jabari Parker the source said.

The source said the Bucks' ownership wanted Kidd because he handled pressure and a number of egos on the Nets in his first head coaching stint and guided them into the playoffs.

The ownership's view of Kidd is that he was a great player a good young coach and somebody who could be a good disciplinarian the source said.

Former Auburn standout Philip Lutzenkirchen dies in car accident

Former Auburn tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen one of the best players at his position in school history and a starter on the Tigers' championship winning team in 2010 died early Sunday morning in a car accident Auburn athletics department spokesman Kirk Sampson told USA TODAY Sports.

Lutzenkirchen was 23. A multiple year starter at Auburn and All Southeastern Conference selection his career ended midway through the 2012 season as a result of a hip injury.

I'm deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Philip Lutzenkirchen Auburn Coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement. He was a great young man who touched the lives of everyone he knew in a positive way. On the field Philip was a great player and competitor but more importantly he was a great teammate and friend off the field.

My thoughts and prayers are with Philip's parents Mike and Mary and all of his family and friends who are grieving his passing. This is a sad day for the entire Auburn family. I find peace knowing that even though Philip was taken from us too soon that he lived his life to the fullest leaving a lifetime of great memories for his family and friends to cherish forever.

We lost a great Auburn man today in Philip Lutzenkirchen. His character and positive influence will be remembered forever.

The one vehicle accident occurred at roughly 3 05 a.m. outside of LaGrange Ga. said Gordy Wright the director of the Georgia State Patrol's Public Information Office.

The 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe containing Lutzenkirchen and three others ran a stop sign and careened out of control for roughly 450 feet before overturning several times coming to a rest on its roof.

Lutzenkirchen and the driver Joseph Ian Davis were killed. Another two passengers were taken to West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange.

In a statement Wright said blood was drawn from the driver to determine if alcohol impairment was a contributing factor to the accident.

Lutzenkirchen ended his Auburn career as one of the most prolific tight ends in the program's history ranking first for touchdown receptions by a tight end (14) second for total receptions (59) and third in receiving yards (628).

While his best season came in 2011 when the then junior earned second team All SEC honors perhaps Lutzenkirchen's most memorable stretch came during the final weeks of 2010 when he helped lead the Tigers past Alabama making the game winning touchdown grab in a 28 27 win and Oregon to claim an undefeated national championship.

The hip injury essentially prevented Lutzenkirchen from a career in the NFL he signed a free agent contract with the St. Louis Rams in 2013 but lasted just four months with the franchise before being released.

Since leaving Auburn Lutzenkirchen worked at a wealth management company and volunteered as an assistant coach at Saint James School in Montgomery Ala.

Philip Lutzenkirchen was what every parent aspires their son to be said Gene Chizik Lutzenkirchen's coach from 2009 12. My deepest sympathy is extended to his parents Mike and Mary his sisters and all of his extended family. We should all begin by honoring his life because he lived a life worthy of that. In his 23 short years he has certainly left an impactful legacy to everyone he touched. I will miss him deeply.

Philip's death is a devastating tragedy for his family the Auburn family and his countless friends. Today is also a profoundly sad day for the Auburn Athletics family who loved and respected Philip not only as a great player but more importantly as a friend and the epitome of an Auburn man. He had a strong faith a big heart and a burning desire to help others. Philip was a bright light this world desperately needed and his death leaves a void that can't possibly be filled. My prayers my thoughts and my heart go out to his wonderful parents Mike and Mary their entire family and his many grieving friends.

7 reasons James Rodriguez is the breakout star of the World Cup

You will be forgiven if you hadn t heard of Colombia s James Rodriguez before this World Cup. The 22 year old attacker plays his club football for AS Monaco a team that plays in the French first division which is a league that isn t televised very often in the U.S. Now that he s made his debut on the world stage though you re going to hear a lot more about him.

Here are seven reasons he s been the breakout star of the World Cup.

1. He s been absolutely brilliant.

First there are the stats. Rodriguez has scored five goals and has two assists in four games. Those are jaw dropping numbers of course but they don t tell the whole story.

Rodriguez has been the attacking maestro for Colombia filling in the gap behind the striker and reminding everyone what a rare and gorgeous thing a true Number 10 is to watch.

Rodriguez scores goals and provides assists but he also dictates the play for Colombia sets the attacking tone and gets his teammates to play the game he wants to play. He is their workhorse as well as their artist.

2. He stepped up when Falcao went down.

When Colombian star Falcao was ruled out of the World Cup a lot of pundits (including me) didn t think Colombia would have the firepower to make a deep run in the tournament.

We were wrong. I was wrong. Rodriguez has provided all the firepower needed. Colombia needed someone to step up and lead with Falcao out. Rodriguez provided that leadership.

My favorite moment of his this tournament was after his second goal against Uruguay which was set up by a brilliant header by his teammate Cuadrado. Instead of celebrating the goal himself Rodriguez sprinted to find Cuadrado and pointed at him over and over again telling his teammate (and the world) That was your goal. You made that happen.

That s the sort of thing that endears you to teammates. These guys seem to love Rodriguez and look like they want to play with and for him. That s rare in a star.

3. His name is really really fun to say.

His name is James but you don t pronounce it like Americans pronounce James. The J is soft and said with an H sound so you would phonetically pronounce it Hah mays. This is one of the funnest things to say in the world.

4. He doesn t just score he creates goals as well.

The five goals in four games is mind boggling. The fact that he s also had two assists in those four games is even harder to comprehend.

Colombia has scored 11 goals in this World Cup. Rodriguez has been involved with 7 of them.

Another way of looking at it Greece scored three goals this World Cup. Rodriguez has assisted or scored on more than double that.

5. He s 22 years old.

He was born in 1991. He turns 23 the day before the World Cup Final. He s just getting started as a player.

6. He s a handsome dude.

Not that his looks should have anything to do with why/how he s appreciated but it certainly doesn t hurt anything.

7. He scored one of the most beautiful goals of the year against Uruguay.

Watch it. Soak it in.

It ll be a long time before you see a goal that beautiful.

WWE Money in the Bank 2014 Results Worst Booking Decisions from PPV

John Cena is the new WWE World Heavyweight champion and all is right with the world.

Or something like that.

Sunday night World Wrestling Entertainment presented its annual Money in the Bank pay per view and for the most part it was an excellent show. Everyone from the Divas to the tag teams to the main event talent worked hard and the Boston crowd helped energize the night's proceedings.

Seth Rollins captured the Money in the Bank contract Paige and Naomi had a very good match for the Divas Championship and Big E and Rusev had a phenomenal heavyweight clash.

But not everything worked.

There were several booking decisions that left fans scratching their heads as the event reached its conclusion.

The Usos Retain the Tag Team Championship

The twin sons of Attitude Era favorite Rikishi may be exceptional workers and arguably the most energetic and electrifying team WWE has had in quite some time but their victory over Luke Harper and Erick Rowan Sunday night makes very little sense from a booking standpoint.

Now that The Usos have defeated their heel challengers there is no reason for the feud to continue. The champions proved their superiority and did it in a clean manner. There was no controversy nothing to create doubt that the Wyatt Family may have won if circumstances were different.

That the only other viable heel team left for The Usos to defend against is RybAxel whom they have beaten on numerous occasions and whom just lost to Goldust and Stardust Sunday night leaves many wondering where they go from here.

The most likely course is a series of rematches against Harper and Rowan but given the fact that Jimmy and Jey have a win over them one must wonder what reason they would have to engage the team in more matches. It simply is not logical outside of they're fighting the champion an excuse that has been used to mask lazy booking far too often.

Adam Rose vs. Paul Revere

Matches such as the one between Adam Rose and Damien Paul Revere Sandow are exactly what WWE needs to leave off of its pay per view events. Fans are exposed to enough filler on Monday nights that they do not need to see it on a show that they have paid money to see.

The Sandow identity crisis story is played out and unfunny while Rose has failed miserably to connect with the audience since debuting. The cheers for Sandow midway through the bout support that statement.

Sandow worked hard as he continues to try to emerge from the deep dark abyss his career has fallen into since failing to capture the world heavyweight title last October but he lost again. It was an awful way to kill four minutes that could have been spread out elsewhere.

Kane Interferes

From a storyline standpoint Kane's interference in the Money in the Bank contract match made sense. It also helped to protect Dean Ambrose as the Lunatic Fringe returned from injury only to see his hopes go up in smoke courtesy of the Demon.

At the same time it is such a shame to see a match as good as the contract bout end with a screwy finish. There were so many other ways to accomplish the outcome the company produced without Kane interfering.

A ladder shot to Ambrose's injured knocking him off the ladder and allowing Rollins to retrieve the briefcase would have been the best way to keep Ambrose strong while having his former friend and partner emerge victorious.

Summer Rae vs. Layla

It is very difficult for fans to invest themselves in a story when everyone involved is as unlikable as Fandango Layla and Summer Rae. Sunday night WWE learned this the hard way when fans sat silently as the women settled their issues.

Layla's win should settle things but given WWE's propensity for dragging stories out well past their sell by date expect the program to continue.

As long as it wraps up on Raw or SmackDown and not a major pay per view it will not be such a bad thing.

One of the most exciting moments of the night Chris Brown s return to the stage Lil Wayne opened up their hit song Loyal and soon enough Chris was back where he belongs showing us that he has still got some super smooth dance moves.

Let s take a break from the performances and awards for a hilarious Chris Rock moment when he referred to Paris Hilton as a Kardashian. Eek

You re really getting your Kardashian on tonight huh the comedian asked. Thankfully Paris took it in stride with a big smile. After all she and Kim were friends for a long time back in the day

Another notable performance Usher s medley hits The RB singer performed a ton of his songs in an awesome medley including Confessions Yeah and You Don t Have to Call. It was amazing to see him push out so many songs in just one performance

A sweet moment during the show When Pharrell won Video of the Year for his hit song Happy and quickly turned to kiss his wife Helen Lasichanh on the cheek. Still swooning

Little did he know this was not his last award of the night. This one s for my son Rocket Pharrell told the audience while accepting the award for Best Male RB Album.

Later Jennifer Hudson slayed the BET Awards in a super sexy leather dress. She sang her fun song Walk It Out as she made her way through the audience dancing and interacting with different people especially the handsome men

Once she got to the stage she switched to It s Your World and the stage quickly turned into a roller disco. Dancers skated around her in circles on the stage so cool.

Beyonce Jay Z Close The Show From On The Run

In case anyone in the audience needed a break host Chris Rock came around and passed out Roscoe s chicken and waffles to everyone. Yes really Even Paris Hilton and Snoop Dogg got some. Lucky

If Chris Brown s performance left you wanting more you were in luck. He came out as a surprise guest during August Alsina s set He remixed I Luv This Shit along with the help of Trey Songz. Epic

Nicki Minaj showed us a little bit of her sexy side when she started off her performance on the back of a motorcycle with a handsome driver at the wheel. Then she hit the second stage to sing Pills N Potions amidst a strange backdrop that included a giant mushroom and a man in a bunny costume. We love seeing Nicki back on stage

Speaking of powerful and sexy women Iggy Azalea joined T.I. for No Mediocre before stealing the stage and getting the crowd on their feet with her record breaking hit Fancy. We are still not tired of that song

Things became a little more serious when Pharrell took the stage yet again to honor the Lifetime Achievement award winner Lionel Richie. The presentation was followed by touching performance from John Legend who sang Hello and Lady in Lionel s honor.

Lionel took the stage shortly after the performance to accept his award thanking everyone from his family to God. The legendary performer then had a little bit of fun singing his own songs including Easy Like Sunday and the always fun All Night Long.

Another touching moment came when Myrlie Evers Williams was honored with the Humanitarian Award by BET s CEO Debra Lee.

Towards the end of the show Robin Thicke dedicated his performance of Forever Love to his estranged wife Paula Patton. I miss you and I m sorry he told the camera obviously speaking to Paula. So sad.

Who better than to close out the show than Jay Z and Beyonce Um no one. Even though the royal couple of hip hop and RB could not be there in person they put on a ridiculously sexy performance of Partition live from their On The Run tour.

There was a time breaking the law and loud obnoxious behaviors were frowned upon. The music industry has outdone itself with honoring citizens who should be hiding their faces with humility What a sad state the USA is in with our value system or lack there of especially in the world of so called entertainment. No wonder the rest of the world has lost respect for us. WE are a degenerate culture sad that people sacrificed their lives for the crap that is now portraying us and only appeals to immature audiences and other degenerates. I m out.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match

With Bryan being forced to surrender the WWE World Heavyweight Championship due to a neck injury the biggest prize in wrestling is up for grabs. Eight of WWE's top stars will vie for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as John Cena Roman Reigns Randy Orton Cesaro Sheamus Alberto Del Rio Bray Wyatt and Kane will compete.

All indications initially pointed toward a seven man match but Kane was a late addition by Triple H at the conclusion of the go home edition of Raw. The majority of the Superstars in the match have a legitimate chance to win and there is no question that WWE has some intriguing options at its disposal.

Perhaps the best possibility of all would be putting the titles on Cesaro who is clearly ready for the responsibility that comes with being world champion

If WWE goes in that direction then it could possibly set up a feud between Cesaro and fellow Paul Heyman guy Brock Lesnar. Since Lesnar figures to be back for SummerSlam and needs an opponent Cesaro is a natural fit due to his partnership with Heyman and overall skill set.

Even though Cesaro is still early in his WWE career he is a wrestling veteran who can carry the title from an in ring perspective and do well enough on the mic with Heyman on his side or perhaps working against him with Lesnar.

Similarly Reigns and Wyatt are fresh faces who would be embraced as champions. If WWE intends on taking the safe route and going back to old reliable though Cena has to be considered the favorite.

WWE could put Cena up against Wyatt or The Authority and then potentially set up a rematch with Bryan when he returns or perhaps even a SummerSlam match against Lesnar. WWE obviously trusts Cena and it has become clear over the years that there is no point in going against him.

For all the interesting possibilities that WWE could explore expect Cena to stand tall once again.

Money in the Bank Ladder Match

It initially appeared as though there would be just one Ladder match at Money in the Bank this year but WWE called a late audible by adding another with the Money in the Bank contract on the line. This particular match will feature seven Superstars with Seth Rollins Dean Ambrose Kofi Kingston Jack Swagger Dolph Ziggler Rob Van Dam and Bad News Barrett going after the briefcase.

Although the star power in this match may not be equal to the star power in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match it can be argued that the quality will be better. With athletic stars like Rollins Kingston Ziggler and RVD likely to create some spectacular spots this bout very well may steal the show.

The secondary Ladder match traditionally opens the Money in the Bank pay per view but it remains to be seen if WWE will go in that direction considering the lack of supporting matches on the card. If it does then the crowd will undoubtedly get fired up very quickly.

Rollins is the favorite to win this match as Triple H's handpicked future face of the company but Ambrose has a legitimate shot as well. Rollins actually lobbied to get Ambrose placed in the match since Ambrose threatened to interfere regardless. Rollins explained the decision on Twitter

Kingston Swagger and RVD all look like non factors in this one. A case can be made for Ziggler but WWE hasn't pushed him enough to suggest that a Money in the Bank win is on the horizon. Barrett is the best option aside from Rollins and Ambrose but his status is uncertain after separating his shoulder at Tuesday's SmackDown taping per WWE.com.

WWE can't go wrong with Rollins or Ambrose in this one but Rollins would probably be more compelling since he is a heel with the backing of The Authority. If a face wins the title at the end of the night Rollins could even be a cash in candidate at the end of the show.

The Money in the Bank briefcase opens up a world of possibilities which is why it is great to see that WWE decided to keep it in the picture.

The Usos vs. Luke Harper and Erick Rowan

After feuding for several weeks The Usos and the team of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan will finally meet at a pay per view with the Tag Team Championships on the line. The Usos have held the titles since the leadup to WrestleMania XXX while Harper and Rowan have yet to capture the gold.

WWE's tag team division is somewhat lacking in terms of depth right now but these two teams have put on some fine performances. The Usos haven't been terrible as champs by any means but one can only assume that more intriguing possibilities will be opened up if Harper and Rowan win.

Although Harper and Rowan are still Bray Wyatt's followers they have been given more opportunities as individuals recently. They got their own theme music on the go home episode of Raw and have been going off on their own without Wyatt as seen in this WWE Instagram photo

Those are clues that Harper and Rowan may be given a chance to win the Tag Team Championships and further distinguish themselves from Wyatt. With so few matches on the card aside from the Ladder matches these two teams will be given every opportunity to put on a great performance as well.

The Usos Harper and Rowan have proven to have solid chemistry so look for a great encounter with the challengers coming out on top.

Nicki Minaj may have dissed Iggy Azalea at BET Awards

Nicki Minaj may have thrown some serious shade at fellow female hip hop star Iggy Azalea during the BET Awards Sunday.

The Starships singer 31 took the stage at the Nokia Theater to accept her fifth consecutive win for Best Female Hip Hop Artist beating out the Australian newcomer whom many considered the favored pick.

In a rambling speech and not mentioning Azalea 24 by name Minaj talked proudly about her ability to write her own music.

This is always very very emotional for me Minaj said. Because this is my fifth year winning this award and I don't take it for granted. I really don't I thank god that I've been placed in a position to do something and represent women in a culture that is so male driven But my point is what I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is that when you hear Nicki Minaj spit Nicki Minaj wrote it.

The Queens born rapper took the moment to strike a diva pose before continuing and clarified that her comment was not to be taken as shade towards anyone but many took it as a dig at Azalea who is rumored to have several ghostwriters on her music.

The rapper went on to herald BET as a big and different institution for black people but then her rant took a serious turn.

Before she left the stage the Beez in the Trap rapper took what bloggers and social media users consider another shot at Azalea.

I hope and pray that BET continues to honor authenticity she concluded. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.

Azalea who performed her hit song Fancy on stage with rapper T.I. has not responded to the apparent jab.

Designing Women Star Meshach Taylor Dies At 67

Meshach Taylor who played a lovable ex convict surrounded by boisterous Southern belles on the sitcom Designing Women and appeared in numerous other TV and film roles died of cancer at age 67 his agent said Sunday.

Taylor died Saturday at his home near Los Angeles according to agent Dede Binder.

Taylor got an Emmy nod for his portrayal of Anthony Bouvier on Designing Women from 1986 to 1993. Then he costarred for four seasons on another successful comedy Dave's World as the best friend of a newspaper humor columnist played by the series' star Harry Anderson.

Other series included the cult favorite Buffalo Bill and the popular Nickelodeon comedy Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide.

Taylor's movie roles included a flamboyant window dresser in the 1987 comedy romance Mannequin as well as Damien Omen II.

He guested on many series including Hannah Montana The Unit Hill Street Blues Barney Miller Lou Grant The Drew Carey Show and in an episode that aired in January Criminal Minds which stars Joe Mantegna with whom Taylor performed early in his career as a fellow member of Chicago's Organic Theater Company. Taylor also had been a member of that city's Goodman Theatre.

The Boston born Taylor started acting in community shows in New Orleans where his father was dean of students at Dillard University. He continued doing roles in Indianapolis after his father moved to Indiana University as dean of the college of arts and sciences.

After college Taylor got a job at an Indianapolis radio station where he rose from a flunky job to Statehouse reporter he recalled in an interview with The Associated Press in 1989.

It was interesting for a while he said. But once you get involved in Indiana politics you see what a yawn it is.

Resuming his acting pursuit he set up a black arts theater to keep kids off the street then joined the national touring company of Hair. His acting career was launched.

After Hair he became a part of the burgeoning theater world in Chicago where he stayed until 1979 before heading for Los Angeles.

Taylor played the assistant director in Buffalo Bill the short lived NBC sitcom about an arrogant and self centered talk show host played by Dabney Coleman. It lasted just one season 1983 84 disappointing its small but fervent following.

Seemingly his gig on Designing Women could have been even more short lived. It was initially a one shot.

It was for the Thanksgiving show about halfway through the first season Taylor said. But producer Linda Bloodworth Thomason told him if the character clicked with audiences he could stay.

It did. He spun comic gold with co stars Jean Smart Dixie Carter Annie Potts and Delta Burke and never left.

Meanwhile his real life worked its way into one episode.

We were doing some promotional work in Lubbock Texas and somehow Delta Burke and I got booked into the same hotel suite he said. They alerted their respective significant others to the mix up then muddled through with the shared accommodations.

When we got back I told Linda and she put it into a show We got stranded at a motel during a blizzard and ended up in the same bed

Taylor is survived by his four children and his wife Bianca Ferguson.

It was almost as bad as celebrating his famous song All Night Wrong.

For the team broadcasting the BET Awards managed to misspell Lionel Richie's name as Ritchie on Sunday night.

To make matters worse it was flashed on the screen in big letters as the soul legend was given a lifetime achievement gong at the event which was being watched by millions in America and beyond.

All night wrong Producers of the BET Awards must have been Dancing On The Ceiling when they saw Lionel Richie's name had been misspelt at Sunday's show in Los Angeles

Producers at the popular event must have felt like Dancing On The Ceiling as soon as they realised their blunder.

Luckily for them Lionel 65 is renowned for being a class act and is sure to have had a jolly chuckle rather than throwing a fit when he discoversedtheir mistake.

Of course the blunder could not spoil a fabulous night for fans of the star who was recognised for almost half a century as a music legend.

He was given his expensive paperweight by the relatively young gun Pharrell Williams who seemed overjoyed to be honoring his hero.

Class act No doubt the Alone star will spare plenty of blushes by laughing off the whole sorry incident

When he took to the stage Lionel tried to share his experience with the young guns in the crowd saying 'The funny thing about this award tonight is exactly 35 40 years ago when I started writing these crazy songs I must tell you the words tonight these are all the songs they told me would ruin my career.

'Sail On you're out of your mind All Night Long what the heck are you doing.

'Soul is a feeling not a colour. Talent is a god given gift and not a category.

'And out of the box is that magical place where talent true talent goes to live and thrive and breathe and may you never give it up as long as you're in this business.'

The generation game Young superstar Pharrell was delighted to honour his hero Lionel Richie

Legend Soul man Lionel was delighted to be given the lifetime achievement award

Touchingly he found time to pay tribute to The Commodores saying 'without them I would not be standing on this stage so I honour my brothers for pushing me out and telling me to go higher and higher.'

He also paid tribute to Motown legend Barry Gordy lauding him as his hero and thanking him for introducing him to Michael Jackson and his brothers.

Finally he thanked his own loved ones saying 'I have the greatest family in the world they understand dad is going to be dad I live in the world and I travel in the world.

'This is my mission on this planet. God has blessed me with so many wonderful things. But this is what I do for a living.'

And after a parade of stars with John Legend leading the way with a wonderful piano led performance covered some of his biggest hits the man himself delighted the crowd with a typically classy turn.

Former Auburn tight end Phil Lutzenkirchen killed in wreck near LaGrange

AUBURN Ala. Toomer s Corner has always been a gathering place for Auburn fans to celebrate the successes of the Tigers athletic program. Sunday it was a place to celebrate the life of Philip Lutzenkirchen.

A former tight end for the Tigers and one of the most popular Auburn players in recent history Lutzenkirchen died in a one vehicle wreck early Sunday morning outside of LaGrange Ga.

He was 23.

Gene Chizik s time as Auburn s coach from 2009 12 coincided with Lutzenkirchen s four years on the Plains. Chizik called Lutzenkirchen the type of person every parent aspires their son to be.

He was compassionate determined honorable and full of love integrity and respect. In 27 years of coaching I have come across what I would consider to be a few rare young men. Phillip was certainly one of those rare ones Chizik said in a statement. He truly lived his life for other people and always found time to give to others. His family values taught him to be a great friend and teammate of everyone he came in contact with. My deepest sympathy is extended to his parents Mike and Mary his sisters and all of his extended family. We should all begin by honoring his life because he lived a life worthy of that. In his 23 short years he has certainly left an impactful legacy to everyone he touched. I will miss him deeply.

Lutzenkirchen s fatal accident occurred in Troup County just southeast of LaGrange at approximately 3 06 a.m. Sunday according to Master Trooper B.N. Talley of the Georgia State Patrol who responded to the scene.

It happened at the intersection of Upper Big Springs Road and Lower Big Springs Road Talley said. The vehicle was a 2006 Chevy Tahoe and the driver missed a stop sign at the intersection of those two roads which is more or less a T intersection. They traveled through the intersection off into a churchyard. They were out of control for about 450 feet.

At that point Talley said the vehicle overturned flipping several times and ejecting three of the four passengers.

Philip was one of them Talley said and he was killed at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle Joseph Davis was also killed. According to the official police report blood was drawn from Davis to determine if alcohol impairment was a contributing factor in the accident.

Lutzenkirchen who was seated behind Davis was not wearing his seat belt. Talley said they are still looking into how fast the vehicle was traveling when it ran through the stop sign.

The other person killed in the wreck was Davis 22 who went by his middle name Ian. Davis a catcher tried out for the Georgia baseball team last fall during open tryouts. He did not make the team however getting cut when the Bulldogs had to set their final roster at the end of fall practice.

Nonetheless his loss was felt by Georgia baseball coach Scott Stricklin.

Heartbroken to hear that Ian Davis has passed away. Just a great kid that had so much ahead of him Stricklin tweeted from his personal Twitter account. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

The two other passengers in the vehicle Elizabeth Ann Seaton Craig 22 of Eatonton Ga. and Christian Tanner Case 20 of Dadeville Ala. were taken to the West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange. Case sitting in the front passenger seat was wearing his seat belt. He was treated and released from the medical center. No update was available on Craig's condition. She was sitting in the back seat and not wearing her seat belt when she was ejected from the vehicle.

Iron Bowl hero

Lutzenkirchen caught 59 passes for 628 yards and 14 touchdowns in his career. His 14 touchdowns are the most in school history for a tight end while his seven scores in 2011 set a single season school record for the position.

But it is the pass he caught from Cam Newton in the 2010 Iron Bowl that fans remember the most. It capped a furious rally from 24 points down as the Tigers upended their rivals the Alabama Crimson Tide.

I m deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Philip Lutzenkirchen. He was a great young man who touched the lives of everyone he knew in a positive way Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said in an official university release Sunday. On the field Philip was a great player and competitor but more importantly he was a great teammate and friend off the field. My thoughts and prayers are with Philip s parents Mike and Mary and all of his family and friends who are grieving his passing. This is a sad day for the entire Auburn family. I find peace knowing that even though Philip was taken from us too soon that he lived his life to the fullest leaving a lifetime of great memories for his family and friends to cherish forever.

Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs also extended his condolences.

Philip s death is a devastating tragedy for his family the Auburn family and his countless friends. Today is also a profoundly sad day for the Auburn Athletics family who loved and respected Philip not only as a great player but more importantly as a friend and the epitome of an Auburn man Jacobs said in a statement. I came to know Philip well and I admired everything about who he was and the way he lived his life. He had a strong faith a big heart and a burning desire to help others. Philip was a bright light this world desperately needed and his death leaves a void that can t possibly be filled. My prayers my thoughts and my heart go out to his wonderful parents Mike and Mary their entire family and his many grieving friends.

Lutzenkirchen s passing reached the NFL as well. After Lutzenkirchen s career at Auburn came to an abrupt end in 2012 due to a hip injury he entered the NFL signing with the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent last year. He was released by the team in August.

But his death hit particularly close to home for Rams general manager Les Snead who played tight end at Auburn in the 1990s and was a member of the Tigers undefeated team in 1993.

During his brief time with the Rams Philip was a consummate pro Snead said in a statement. On behalf of the St. Louis Rams organization we would like to send our condolences to his family. As an Auburn alum myself and with (St. Louis head) Coach (Jeff) Fisher s ties to the university through his son Trent and daughter Tara we join the Tigers in grieving this tragic loss.

After being cut by the Rams Lutzenkirchen returned to Alabama where he had been working at a wealth management company in Montgomery. In May he began lending his services as a volunteer assistant coach at St. James School in Montgomery.

They're running what (Gus) Malzahn runs so I'm helping out with the tight ends and fullbacks Lutzenkirchen told AL.com earlier this month. It's good I'm really enjoying it. We have a great group of kids at St. James. There's not a whole lot to do in Montgomery and I wanted to get back involved with sports.

Ironically enough one of the players he had been working with tight end Jalen Harris a prospect in the Class of 2015 committed to Auburn on Tuesday.

Sunday afternoon Harris took to his Instagram account posting a picture he had taken with Lutzenkirchen after giving his commitment on Tuesday. Alongside the picture Harris provided a message giving insight on all the things Lutzenkirchen had taught him whether it was football life or just being a man.

These past couple of months have just been a blessing it s like God sent me an angel and now you can really watch over me. I will do everything in my ability to carry on your legacy on and off the field Harris post read. Just thank you for everything from being my coach mentor and a brother to me. It s killing me right now knowing you re gone but (I) will push through because I now that is what you would want. Thank you again coach everything. You are the definition of a true Auburn Man . There are not too many people like you in the world. You are my hero and I love you.

Troup County Fatal Crash

The Georgia State Patrol in LaGrange was called to investigate a one vehicle crash this morning in Troup County that resulted in two fatalities and two injuries. The crash occurred around 3 05 a.m. at the intersection of Upper Big Springs Road and Lower Big Springs Road just south of LaGrange.

A 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling on Upper Big Springs Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Lower Big Springs Road. The vehicle traveled approximately 451 feet out of control through a church yard and overturned several times before coming to rest on its roof.

Killed in the crash were

Driver Joseph Ian Davis age 22 from Atlanta....partially ejected Back seat passenger Philip Lutzenkirchen 23 from Marietta...ejected.

Injured were

Back seat passenger Elizabeth Ann Seaton Craig age 22 from Eatonton GA....ejected and taken to West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange Front seat passenger Christian Tanner Case age 20 from Dadeville AL.....restrained and treated and released from West Georgia Medical.

Blood was drawn from the driver to determine if alcohol impairment was a contributing factor.

Premiering Sunday night HBO's The Leftovers about a small New York town in the aftermath of a global Rapture like event that caused the sudden disappearance of two percent of the world's population was possibly the most anticipated new show of the summer. While disturbing the first episode did not disappoint.

The show opens with a frazzled young mother running errands with her crying baby. As she gets ready to pull out of the parking lot the baby's wails stop thanks to every mother's worst fear. The child's gone without a trace.

Fast forward to three years later and we meet Mapleton police chief Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) who assumed the position after his dad the former chief apparently lost his marbles. While taking a run Garvey finds a lost dog that he would have gladly returned were it not for the fact the animal was shot dead right in front of him by a mysterious stranger who speeds off in a pickup truck.

That's just the first of many Mapleton mysteries. In the years since the tragic disappearances a local cult known as the Guilty Remnant has sprung up. Donning all white the members follow a code of silence while chain smoking and stalking locals.

When two members of the GR repeatedly follow weary townswoman Meg (Liv Tyler) and her fianc she snaps and strikes one of them. But she can't fight her sadness. Meg later leaves her fianc to join the cult.

Garvey's daughter Jill (Margaret Qualley) and her friend Aimee (Emily Meade) are the first bit of normalcy to hit the screen. Like all high schoolers they talk boys and parties but there's a dark side. After a bully on her field hockey team purposely trips Jill she responds with a move that breaks the girl's nose.

Later at a friend's party or rather a drug fueled orgy Jill decides to leave after Aimee dips off with her crush. If she wasn't troubled enough for one day she discovers the dead dog in her dad's trunk.

Somewhere far away her brother Tom Garvey (Chris Zylka) has dropped out of college disillusioned by classmate suicides and works for a mysterious clairvoyant type named Wayne (Paterson Joseph). Tom's seemingly happy has a crush on a girl at Wayne's compound but he never answers his dad's calls.

Peace Gives Way to ChaosBack on duty chief Garvey tries to convince the town's mayor Lucy Warburton (Amanda Warren) to cancel an inaugural parade to commemorate the fateful day. Everybody's ready to feel better she says. But fearing the Guilty Remnant will show and anger citizens Chief Garvey warns her everyone's ready to f explode.

And he's right. The peaceful remembrance parade gives way to chaos when the Remnant show up in silent force.

After breaking up the melee Garvey goes to drown his sorrows at the local bar. In a moment of humor the news flashes photos of famous disappearance victims like the Pope and J. Lo.

Liquor can't do the trick for Garvey who heads to the home of the Remnant where we learn his wife Laurie (Amy Brenneman) is actually one of the cult's main flunkies who took a beating at the parade. Are you okay he asks Please come home he begs.

Despite Garvey's entire family surviving the event they couldn't be further apart. Dogged by nightmares flashbacks and some seriously spooky animal sightings Garvey may soon be following in his dad's footsteps. When he learns the town's dogs have actually turned vicious the episode closes with a tearful Garvey taking his pain out on a local pack.
