The Giants have been playing 1B/OF Mike Morse at first base in the wake of 1B Brandon Belt's concussion.

UPDATE 1 19 p.m.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports lists the Orioles Marlins and Rangers as teams with interest in Astros RHP Jarred Cosart. Rosenthal also says the Cubs are likely to trade UTIL Emilio Bonifacio with the ORioles Giants Mariners Royals and Pirates among the interested clubs.

The Red Sox aren't done folks. They're getting close to a deal with the Tigers involving LHP Andrew Miller according to Jon Morosi of Fox Sports.

As someone who has fallen victim to posting fake rumors I know how embarrassing that is.

UPDATE 12 10 p.m.

Even after trading Lester the Red Sox are still discussing RHP John Lackey with several teams according to Pete Abraham of the Boston Globe. He hears the likelihood of a trade is 70 percent. Bob Nightengale of USA Today says Boston is also getting a ton of calls on LHP Andrew Miller.

Meanwhile Joel Sherman of the New York Post says Padres OF Chris Denorfia will be traded today with the Royals and Braves the most likely landing spots.

Got a couple of updates from the NL West to pass along

Rockies aren't ruling out trades for LaTroy Hawkins or Jorge De La Rosa but neither appears likely to move as of this hour.

The Pirates Dodgers and Brewers were among the teams connected to Lester who could make a play for Price.

The Royals continue to fade out of the postseason picture but that doesn't mean they will stand pat. They've been connected to a veteran starter with less than five hours to go before the deadline

Alex Rios would be a fit for a lot of teams in need of a right handed hitting outfielder like the Yankees Royals and Giants among others. Cotts as a lefty reliever would be a fit for any team in the league.

The first place Nationals and wild card Blue Jays are showing some interest in potential second base upgrades including SS Asdrubal Cabrera of the Indians

Nationals BlueJays two other clubs have spoken to Indians about A. Cabrera sources tell me and jonmorosi. Not certain to be traded.

Washington is currently without 3B Ryan Zimmerman following his hamstring strain and they're playing IF Anthony Rendon at his natural third base. Either Cabrera who has experience at second or Mets 2B Daniel Murphy would be an upgrade over 2B Danny Espinosa at second base.

UPDATE 9 30 a.m.

The Astros are shopping RHP Scott Feldman around but his pricey three year contract is an obstacle according to Heyman. Heyman also says the Orioles have inquired about RHP Bartolo Colon but the Mets are unsure if they want to move him.
