Tonight s episode saw America s Got Talent lose seven contestants and gain one.
The show eliminated seven acts who performed last night during the quarterfinals and also announced the winner of the Today s Got Talent Contest. Today anchors Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie (Hooray for NBC cross promotion ) came out to announce that dance team Cornell Bhangra will perform in one of the live shows to compete for a place in the semi finals.
But onto the results which on the whole weren't all that surprising. For reference here s a recap of how all the acts fared last night. And here s who was left standing at the end of tonight s show.
Jasmine Flowers/Emily West/Valo Bobby The show started with the obvious result here. Although I would have loved to see Valo Bobby go through as well Emily West was clearly the best of these three acts. Judge Heidi Klum says West should keep doing exactly what she s doing. That s usually easier said than done but I wouldn t be surprised if West ends up being the last singer standing.
The Willis Clan/Sean Luke/Dan Naturman I ve made it no secret how much I like Dan Naturman so I was thrilled to see him go through. Mel B said she thought two of these acts should have gone through without specifying which two but I m guessing Sean Luke will be seen as the surprise elimination here by many people.
Julia Goodwin/Miguel Dakota/J.D. Anderson I said last night that Dakota would go far on the teenage girl vote and that s proving true so far. But out of these three acts I wasn t surprised to see him make it to the semi finals. Goodwin has potential but never lived up to it. Anderson s decision to perform the same trick again last night proved that he s not versatile enough for this competition. There s only so many things you can smash I guess.
David Leeman/Baila Conmigo/Flight Crew Jump Rope David Leeman went through automatically so it was up to the judges to decide between Baila Conmigo and Flight Crew Jump Rope. Mel B picked Flight Crew Jump Rope but everyone else went with Baila Conmigo so they ll move on.
We re now down to 40 contestants. In next Tuesday s quarterfinals we ll see Jaycob Curlee Aerial Animation Livy Matt and Sammy Mat Franco John Andrew Loop Rawlins Andrey Moraru Darik Santos Acte II Juan Carlos Hart Dance Team and Mara Justine.
