Ray Lewis will stay in Baltimore during the draft

The protests that have been riots in Baltimore have forced the sports world to change plenty of plans from the Ravens canceling a draft party to the Orioles staging a baseball game that is closed to the public.

For ESPN the situation has resulted in an significant adjustment to their plans for the first night of the draft. ESPN has announced that Ray Lewis will remain in Maryland. He will be replaced by Louis Riddick a former NFL executive who serves as an on air analyst for ESPN.

I felt that it was more important for me to stay in Baltimore and try to help the city I love Ray Lewis said in a release. I greatly appreciate ESPN s understanding and flexibility at this late date. I did not feel right leaving the city at this time.

Lewis has used social media to plead with Baltimore residents to stop the violence following the death of Freddie Gray who suffered a spinal cord injury while in police custody.
