NEW YORK The Rangers exploded in the third inning for the second consecutive game and defeated the New York Yankees 15 4 on Saturday at Yankee Stadium.
The Rangers scored 10 runs in the third inning against starter C.C. Sabathia and reliever Esmil Rogers. The top three hitters Delino DeShields Shin Soo Choo and Prince Fielder reached base six times and scored five runs and drove in four runs during the inning.
Right hander Nick Martinez worked seven innings for the win. He is 4 0 and the Rangers are 8 1 in his starts.
The Rangers have won four consecutive games matching their longest winning streak of the season. Each streak came on the road.
GAME REPORT
The arms In the third RHP Nick Martinez bounced back from a lengthy stay on the bench as the offense produced 11 runs in the inning by retiring the side in order. Martinez matched a career high with 108 pitches. He has thrown more than 100 pitches in three consecutive starts for the first time in his career. In the seventh LHP Alex Claudio hit Alex Rodriguez with his first pitch. In the inning Yankees RHP Branden Pinder buzzed 1B Mitch Moreland with a pitch.
The bats For the second consecutive game the Rangers scored multiple runs in the third. They have 17 runs in the third during the first two games of this season and a 39 11 advantage in the inning for the season. The third has been their best inning of the season. In the seventh DH Prince Fielder hit a two run homer. He has six homers in the last 12 games.
The gloves In the fourth 2B Adam Rosales made a no chance wild jump throw to first on Alex Rodriguez infield single for an error. In the sixth Moreland scooped a low throw from 3B Adrian Beltre to get the inning ending out.
The legs In the third Beltre alertly moved into scoring position when C John Ryan Murphy could not find a ball in the dirt.

The club s biggest inning since a 13 run outburst against Houston on Aug. 19 2013 started quietly. Jake Smolinski the No. 9 hitter worked C.C. Sabathia for a walk. Smolinski also had a sacrifice fly in the inning. Rangers 10 Yankees 0.

Elvis Andrus drove in his third run with a sacrifice fly. Andrus had produced a run only four times in his previous 12 chances with a runner at third and fewer than two outs. Rangers 13 Yankees 0.

Carlos Beltran extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a homer. Rangers 13 Yankees 1.
RANGERS SEVENTH
Prince Fielder homered for the second consecutive game. He has three homers and six RBIs for the first two games of the series. Rangers 15 Yankees 1.
