Corey Crawford showed some bark and some bite late in the third period of Saturday's 5 4 double overtime victory.
lRelated Chicago BlackhawksAll the Blackhawks' playoff goalsSee all relatedThe Blackhawks goalie was in mid conversation with an official when he took a two handed swing with his stick at the chest of Ducks forward Matt Beleskey. He connected then minded the net on a shot attempt all within a blink or two.
No penalty was called and Beleskey needed some prodding to remember the play afterward. Then he did some barking of his own.
I didn't even really notice Beleskey said of the slash. Who knows I hope he's coming after me. I thought it was going in because he wasn't even looking.
What could have been the winning goal sailed over Crawford's left shoulder and the net.
Crawford didn't address the sequence after the victory instead referencing his team's resolve after the Ducks erased a 3 1 third period deficit in 37 seconds.
It seems like another team that would break your backs but we kept playing he said.
The Blackhawks and Ducks will keep playing at 8 p.m. Monday in Anaheim Calif.
I'm sick of them that's for sure Beleskey said.
Which didn't come as a surprise to the Blackhawks' Andrew Desjardins.
It's getting deeper and deeper so guys are getting frustrated with each other a little bit Desjardins said. That's the way series go. We're trying to stress on keeping it in between the whistles frustrating them during play not getting into it too much after the whistle.
