Melissa Gilbert has been in the public eye since she was a teenager growing up in front of the cameras but not the way she wanted to. The 50 year old who had breast implants for 20 years opened up in a new interview with ABC News on Jan. 29 about what inspired her decision to get her implants removed to just an average B.
Melissa Gilbert Removes Breast Implants I Feel Healthier And BetterIt s definitely hard growing up in front of the cameras. For Melissa it s what plagued her biggest insecurity. While starring on Little House on the Prairie she constantly compared her body to her co star Alison Arngrim s.
There was a huge difference Melissa said in the interview. I was wearing like you know Speedo one piece bathing suits. She was wearing all these sort of sexy bikinis and stuff. I was nowhere near that.
Take Our PollMelissa said that her then husband even made comments about her chest size after breastfeeding her son which inspired her decision to get implants. Melissa who is now married to third husband Timothy Busfield revealed that she had both saline and silicone implants and was a size DD.
Breast implants are meant to be replaced every 10 to 15 years so when Melissa s were 12 years old she started having second thoughts because of her appearance on Dancing with the Stars. Melissa wrote a blog post about her decision to remove her implants on Dec. 31 and took to dissing the show s perception of body image.
It was all about spray tan and glitter and glamor and what other people think and being skinny way too skinny Yuck she wrote.
But as Melissa assured us in her interview after her surgery she feels much healthier now. Not only do I feel healthier and better but I don t have these inappropriately large breasts that were wrong for my body kind of getting the way she said. I sleep more comfortably. And the bonus is I have disc issues in my neck. And I have absolutely no pulling on my shoulders. And all the pain in my neck has completely disappeared since the surgery.
Plus Melissa says her husband is perfectly happy. We re so glad that Melissa has finally found confidence within her body even if it took her years to overcome her insecurities. Congrats Melissa
I don t regret that I had the surgery she says. I regret that I felt I had to.
