Melissa Gilbert wrote a passionate blog post about her decision to remove her breast implants and it's still resonating with fans.
I spent a great deal of my life almost completely flat chested she wrote on Dec. 31 2014. Yes she says she felt pressure to have a curvier figure.
She was always small chested she says and remembers wearing a padded bra at age 16 while on Little House on the Prairie.
She got implants and then years later got new implants. She says she was a 'DD at her biggest.
And then she went on Dancing With the Stars which didn't help her body image issues.
It was all about spray tan and glitter and glamor and what other people think and being skinny way too skinny Yuck
She finally had a reverse mid life crisis of sorts. The shallowness of my existence at that point brought me to my knees. I had to change. I had to look inward and address my issues (this looking inward is a constant process by the way).
She got them removed by a doctor in Michigan about three weeks ago.
Now she's a B cup she says in an interview with ABC that aired on Good Morning America Thursday.
Not only do I feel healthier and better but I don't have these inappropriately large breasts that were wrong for my body kind of getting the way she says.
I don't regret that I had the surgery to get implants she says. I regret that I felt I had to.
She says she also had disc issues in her neck that helped prompt the decision to get the implants removed.
Her third husband Timothy Busfield was completely on board telling her to go go get the procedure done. And now he seems perfectly happy she says.
And that pain in her neck Gone.
